Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has finally spoken about the terrifying attack he faced at his Mumbai home last month. On January 16, an intruder broke into his house and stabbed him multiple times. Saif was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent surgeries and spent days recovering. Now, in his first interview since the incident, he has shared what happened that night and how his son Taimur reacted to seeing his father covered in blood.
A Night of Horror
Saif recalled the shocking events of that night. He was in his home when an unknown man managed to enter and attack him with a knife. In the struggle, Saif suffered six stab wounds. His kurta was soaked in blood by the time the fight ended. He managed to overpower the intruder, but by then, he had already lost a lot of blood.
His wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, and their two sons, Taimur and Jeh, were with him at home when it happened. After realizing the severity of his injuries, they rushed downstairs, desperately looking for a cab or an auto-rickshaw to take him to the hospital. Despite the chaos, Saif assured Kareena that he would be okay. He remembered telling her, “I feel some pain. Something’s wrong with my back.”
Taimur’s Innocent Question
As they scrambled to get help, Saif was confronted with a heartbreaking moment. His 8-year-old son, Taimur, looked at him, visibly shaken, and asked, “Are you going to die?” Saif reassured him, saying, “No, I’m fine.” The emotional moment stuck with him as he realized how deeply the incident had affected his young son.
Why Taimur Went to the Hospital With Him
Early reports suggested that Saif’s elder son, Ibrahim, accompanied him to the hospital. However, it was later confirmed by Lilavati Hospital doctors that it was actually Taimur who went with him.
Addressing this, Saif explained why his son was by his side. “He was absolutely composed. He said, ‘I’m coming with you.’ I was getting a lot of comfort just from looking at him at that time. I didn’t want to go alone. My wife knew what he would do for me and sent him with me,” Saif shared.
The father and son, along with Saif’s staff member Hari, took an auto-rickshaw to the hospital. Despite his young age, Taimur remained calm and stayed beside his father throughout the journey. “Maybe it wasn’t the ideal decision, but at that moment, it felt like the right thing to do,” Saif admitted.
Recovery and Moving Forward
Saif underwent multiple surgeries and spent time recovering in the hospital. He has now resumed work, determined to move past the attack. The incident has left his family shaken, but they are trying to return to normal life.
His wife, Kareena Kapoor, previously shared a note on social media addressing the conspiracy theories and speculations surrounding the attack. “Life humbles you. We are grateful for all the love and concern,” she wrote.
No Place for Fear
Despite the horrifying experience, Saif is choosing to move forward without fear. He emphasized that his family’s safety remains his top priority. While he hasn’t spoken about the legal actions being taken against the intruder, it is clear that security at his home has been tightened.
For now, Saif is focusing on work and spending time with his loved ones. “This experience has changed me in some ways, but I refuse to live in fear,” he said.
Saif’s resilience and his son’s courage have touched many hearts. The incident was a terrifying reminder of how unpredictable life can be, but the actor’s strength in facing it head-on has won admiration from fans and colleagues alike.
