Legendary singer Lucky Ali left the audience mesmerized at the 18th edition of the Kathakar International Storyteller Festival. What started as a storytelling session turned into a surprise musical treat as he performed some of his most iconic songs, including O Sanam, Ek Pal Ka Jeena, and Aa Bhi Jaa.
The event, held at Delhi’s Sunder Nursery, saw fans huddled in their warm clothes on a chilly night, hanging on to every word he spoke. He shared stories about life, music, and some behind-the-scenes moments from his career. One story, in particular, had everyone laughing—Hrithik Roshan’s unexpected reaction while recording Ek Pal Ka Jeena for Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000).
Hrithik’s Hesitation Over a Single Word
Lucky Ali recalled how Hrithik was unsure about singing the lyrics “honthon pe pyaas hai, milne ki aas hai” on screen. “I told him, ‘You really want to say ‘aas hai’ in front of everyone? People will laugh!’” Lucky shared with a chuckle. The young actor, nervous about how it might sound, took his concern to his father, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan.
Hrithik told him, ‘Papa, I don’t want to say ‘aas’ on screen!’ But Rakesh Roshan wasn’t having any of it. He turned to Lucky and said, ‘What are you teaching him?!’ Lucky laughed as he narrated the memory, making the audience burst into laughter.
Eventually, Hrithik went ahead with the lyrics, and Ek Pal Ka Jeena became one of the most loved songs of its time. “It’s funny how small things make us nervous, but looking back, they become great memories,” Lucky added.
His Take on Love and Marriage
Apart from music, Lucky Ali also touched upon his personal life, including his thoughts on marriage. Fans have often been curious about his relationships, and he didn’t shy away from addressing it.
“I believe love should be simple. No complications, no drama,” he said. “If it happens, it happens. And if marriage is in my destiny again, so be it.” His casual but heartfelt response had the crowd cheering.
While he didn’t reveal any specific details, his words hinted that he’s open to the idea of marriage if the right person comes along.
A Magical Night at Kathakar Festival
The event wasn’t just about storytelling; it became a celebration of music, memories, and nostalgia. Fans swayed along as Lucky Ali performed some of his biggest hits, his voice still as soulful as ever.
For those in the crowd, it was a night to remember. They got to witness an artist who has always stayed true to his music, a man who still carries the same charm and simplicity that made him a legend.
As the session ended, fans left with a mix of emotions—joy, nostalgia, and the satisfaction of seeing a true artist in his element.
One thing was clear: Lucky Ali’s magic is timeless. And his stories? They’re just as unforgettable as his songs.
